A Little About Us

A Little About Us

Our Story

The Canmore Raft Tours team at the Bow River

Canmore Raft Tours is an idea that has grown and evolved since 2014. We began to watch the growth of the tourism industry in Canmore, and with that the growing need for family-friendly adventures for a large variety of ages and abilities. We chatted with people and businesses around Canmore to see what others thought about the idea of a gentler option to the more extreme adventures in and around town.

Once we had a good idea of what we wanted to do, we started to take friends and family out on the river to get a feel for what our program would look like. After what seems like hundreds of trips we were finally ready to wade into the tourism market in 2016 and offer what we, and thousands of others, think is the perfect family adventure in the Canadian Rockies.

Although we offer our tours at a significantly lower price then others operating in this industry, we feel we provide a truly local feel and quality product that you and your family and friends will remember for the rest of your lives.

Personalized Approach

Canmore Raft Tours is focused on providing Scenic River Floats that allow our guests to have a relaxing, enjoyable adventure while also experiencing the unmatched beauty offered by the Canadian Rockies. We take care of the details so that guests can soak up the full rafting experience, breathtaking views and unique wildlife along the way. We hope that for many of our guests, rafting with Canmore Raft Tours will become an annual tradition.

Easy

Our passion for adventure and love of rivers drives us to make all of our tours comfortable, fun and accessible to as many people as possible. We are committed to providing guests with the highest-quality gear, the most experienced guides, the healthiest of experiences and the best value for our customers. Our tours can be booked online, by calling our office or come visit us downtown. How easy is that?!

Meet Our Amazing Team

Excellence and Professionalism

Canmore Raft Tours is locally founded, owned and operated. We only hire the most qualified, local guides; most of who have been working together for a decade or more. They are crazy, interesting people who have a passion for rivers, guiding, and of course entertaining. We take risk management and safety very seriously. Our guides are accomplished in outdoor skills, trained in Wilderness First Aid, CPR and river rescue, and are knowledgeable about the natural and cultural history of the Rockies. All trips carry full first aid/rescue kits and communications.

Chris: Owner/Guide
Owner/Founder/Guide
Found on the water - in the Raft Shack - driving the passenger vans - or on the multi-night trips playing guitar and enjoying the catered food. Chris’ professional background comes from 25 years of leading river trips spanning from the forested slopes of the Canadian Rockies, to the warm waters and jungles of Central America. Chris has called Canmore, Alberta home since the late 1990’s….yes he really is that old and is the longest active raft guide in the Bow Valley!
Christine: Owner/Administration
Owner/Administration
The fixer! Always keeping us organized and on time. Christine is the Oar for the Raft - without her we go nowhere. Juggling has become her new passion as she bounces between the river, the office, and our family (2 kids & 2 dogs) - ensuring each and every trip is as perfect as the first one.
Max: Guide/Driver
Operations Manager
A swiss army knife, Erin does it all. From running the everyday operations on the river and guiding clients down all of our river trips, to cooking up some of the best riverside munchies anyone could ask for at camp! Erin has travelled the world honning her guiding skills and has become a staple here at CRT.
Manager/Guide
You will find Gregg usually on the Multi-day raft trips and float tours. Full of energy, bad jokes and great vibes, he is a river smith like no other. With years of experience river guiding, we are lucky to have him as part of the CRT team!
Canmore and the Canadian Rockies

A Place Like No Other

Pretty as a picture with an authentic mountain soul and a pulse that resembles a much larger city, with the arms of the majestic Rockies wrapped around us and the Bow River running right through our downtown. But being in Canmore is larger than life.

An hour west of Calgary, 22 kilometres (12 miles) east of Banff, and nestled next to the larger wildlands of Kananaskis Country, Canmore is energized and inspired by our incredible location. Our beauty is enviable, geography, mind-boggling. We take advantage of the environment that surrounds us but we’re committed to sustaining it.

We’re made up of an eclectic mix, this quaint small town in the wild. We’ve got endless amounts of outdoor activities, world-class mountain sports, and standout wellness facilities. Impressive food, one-of-a-kind shopping, and a vibrant arts and cultural scene, including award-winning festivals. All of this within the backdrop of provincial parks, unspoiled wilderness, and our show-stopping snow-capped mountain peaks. From our humble small mining town beginnings, Canmore is now a celebrated tourist destination that takes outdoor adventure lifestyle very seriously with a youthful, entrepreneurial, creative energy that’s compelling, inspiring, and welcoming.
